From Seeing Stars to Hospital Visits

I”M HOME! And while I may not see this as a good thing, you all should. Why? Because that means you’re finally going to get a blog post out of me. I’ve been getting messages about this one for over a week now… you guys are impatient! (I say this with love.)

Most of you already know that I was in Los Angeles last week. If you know that, you also probably know at least a little bit about what I was up to. And if you don’t, no worries, you’re about to know! Continue reading “From Seeing Stars to Hospital Visits”

College advice from a real life college kid

It’s that time of year again!

Summer is ending and recently graduated high schoolers are freaking out about college.

At least I was. I’m not joking. I got put on anxiety medicine AND had to wear a heart monitor because I stressed myself out so much about picking a school, picking a major, scholarships, financial aid, roommates, parking passes, scheduling my own classes, jobs, and OH MY GOD why did I have to graduate??????

If you know how that feels, this post is for you! Because maybe my past freak out can help keep your current one under control. Maybe.

I hope.

Here are all the things I wish I had known before starting college.  Continue reading “College advice from a real life college kid”

Blast From The Past

Someone asked me the other day about my favorite childhood memory. Which resulted in a very long conversation about my summers as a kid… and specifically, my summers in Pennsylvania.

My cousin Samantha (we call her Sam, so keep up.) lives in Pennsylvania and my favorite thing to do as a kid, especially during the summer, was to make the 14 hour trip (BY CAR!!!!!!!) to her townhouse.  Continue reading “Blast From The Past”

Simon Says

My best friend from home is taking me camping.

If you know me, you’re probably laughing out loud right now at the fact that Jordyn Rowland is willingly going to spend more than 2 hours in the woods with no cell service… I’m trying not to think about that part.

But yes, camping.

Simon and I have gotten into some very interesting situations together over the years and he’s been bugging me for months about him not being featured on the blog so I thought now would be a good time…

…in case I get eaten by a bear or something.  Continue reading “Simon Says”

Coconut Rice with Mango Salsa

I haven’t posted a recipe in so long… I’m hoping this one makes up for that! I’ve been making this dish for over a year now and everyone loves it! Whether you’re feeding a crowd or just two, this dish is perfect for those summer nights out by the pool. Who doesn’t love a good, juicy mango? Well, if you’re one of those people who can’t resist them, this recipe is for you! Coconut rice? Oh yes. And it’s not as tricky as it sounds either, I promise. I’m not going to talk much more about this one, the recipe will speak for itself… Continue reading “Coconut Rice with Mango Salsa”

Summer 2017 Book List

Happy Wednesday! I got a request last night for this post, so instead of waiting until Monday, I decided to go ahead and get it our for you today. If you follow me on any of my social media accounts, you’ll know that if I’m not writing, I probably have my nose in a book. And since it’s summer, I’m by the pool with my nose in a book. Someone asked for a post with recommendations so here it is! These are some of my favorites, all by female authors (because that’s my form of resisting the patriarchy, duh.) Leave any more suggestions or requests in the comments and I will get back to you! (All descriptions are from google books if you want to read more!)  Continue reading “Summer 2017 Book List”

The bucket-list for creative living

I don’t usually do these kinds of things, make lists to follow. I’m more of a go with the flow type of person, but I feel like this is a very go with the flow list. Nothing has a deadline (well, I guess sometime in September…) nothing has to be turned in for a grade. It’s not for you. It’s not because someone told me to do this. It’s for me. Because I want to do this. Maybe you’ll join me.  Continue reading “The bucket-list for creative living”
